Resilience VR helps children and adolescents develop resilience to anxiety and stress by enhancing their emotional understanding and coping skills. The program utilizes immersive storylines that expose youth to everyday challenges, including social media pressure, school-based stress, and peer conflict. Through interactive, self-guided experiences, students learn to manage distress and make informed, healthy choices in real-time. Each scenario is informed by cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). Resilience VR is currently being evaluated in a CDC-funded study focused on positive youth development.

Resilience VR was developed in partnership with a youth focus group to develop common scenarios that youth experience online and at school that cause anxiety and contribute to depression.
Through immersive gameplay, youth are exposed to in-person and online social media provocation. During these scenarios, youth are taught evidence-based coping skills based on cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavioral strategies.
Youth are taught emotion regulation strategies using evidence-based psychoeducational programming. These include grounding exercises and distress tolerance strategies to reduce anxiety and depression behaviors.
Gameplay encourages engagement and participation through incentivized gamification. Youth learn problem-solving skills, social skills training, mindfulness and meditation techniques, and strategies for cognitive restructuring.
